Standing Committee of Veterans Affairs (SCVA)

Sir/Madam,
I came across this email address to contact the Standing Committee of
Veterans Affairs (SCVA). I represent a growing group of Veterans and
spouses who have either developed cancer or serious illnesses, or
spouses of those veterans. We have developed a website and have been
contacting VAC, BPA, VRAB, local MP, PHAC, VAC Ombud, DND Ombuds, CF
Health Services and there was discussion about contacting W5.
We are not a group of disgruntled veterans. We are organized,
intelligent and motivated in our attempts to get VAC to recognize that a
certain toxic chemical, Carbon Tetrachloride (CTC) has been causing the
cancers, and deaths of many CF members. Our website is:
www.veteranswithcancer.com
and is drawing increasing support with each day.
We have amassed considerable literature and Occupational Medicine
specialists to support that CTC will cause cancer and identified the
pathway. In addition, as recently as Dec 2022, the US EPA revised their
classification of CTC to be "unreasonably hazardous to injury to human
health". The US passed the Promise To Address Comprehensive Toxics
(PACT) Act in 2022 where toxic chemicals, including CTC and certain
diseases are considered presumptuous when applying to the DVA.
There is much more information and we are prepared to appear on video
before your committee as witnesses. We have attempted to reach out to
whomever will listen. Our last resort but, most convincing and cause
undue attention in an election year will be to contact various media
outlets.
We respectfully request that this be the topic of your next meeting of
the SCVA. Failing that, provide a contact of who can help us, or ideally
have the Minister of Veteran Affairs conduct an MS Teams meeting with
those that represent
