Thanks Dave. We are a growing group of Veterans afflicted by cancer due
to exposure to toxic chemicals. More specifically, Carbon Tetrachloride.
In actuality, it is possible many of us were exposed to multiple
chemicals, however when researching past appeals, many were denied
because the veteran claimed multiple chemicals, so VAC would deny on
this basis. So, we learned to stick with the most common chemical that
was in wide use from the 50's to the 80's. My appeal was eventually
successful because I accomplished and beat the roadblocks set up for my
failure.
During our journey into the abyss called VAC et al., we learned a few
things that would help cancer victims, and the spouses of those
afflicted. We discovered each other through our website and getting the
word out. On one hand we hear stories of the many incidences of cancer,
but yet the military culture might not be to put their name forward.
Similar to not being permitted to sign petitions in the military years
ago.
Consequently, we hope to request an official meeting with VAC et al so
we may present our ideas. Non-confrontational, ideas that will help all,
and would indicate a willingness to listen. So far, we have been
outright denied a meeting with staff, and they have passed us between
VAC and BPA. Both hide behind mandates, but yet it is clearly written in
the VAC Ombudsmen mandate to look at systemic issues.
To that end, we are writing to whomever to get the word out. Maybe, our
request will finally get some attention. We are veterans suffering or
dying from the most vile, painful, life destroying illness ever and our
government refuses an hour out of their day to listen. The US government
has listened to their vets and congress enacted the Promise To Address
Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act. We were exposed during Pierre's
government and denied an audience with Justin's government.
Please help by talking about this amongst your peers and those closer to
government.
Thank you
Randy
